Our story

Fifty-plus years of the same discipline

How a machinery development business became a steel fabricator, without giving up the engineering.

  1. 1968

    Three engineers, one workshop

Tri-Dev is formed by three engineers carrying out development work on machinery, predominantly for the pottery industry.

  2. Growth

    Beyond the potteries

The client base widens to cover automotive, mining, steel production and textiles, with bespoke machines and conveying systems becoming a core strength.

  3. 25+ yrs

    Design moves to CAD

Design moves fully in-house and electronic. Every drawing is produced in AutoCAD, in 2D or 3D, and discussed with the customer as it develops.

  4. Today

Fabrication for the building sector, UK-wide

Architectural stairs, fire escapes, balustrades, handrails, canopies and flooring make up the bulk of the work, delivered and installed nationwide — with machinery work still carried out alongside it.

How we work

Drawn, made, proved and fitted by the same firm

Every design is produced electronically in AutoCAD, in-house, in either 2D or 3D, and discussed with you as it progresses. Nothing goes to fabrication until the drawing is agreed.

Fabrication is carried out at our own works to your specification and in accordance with the latest regulations and British Standards. Final products are tested and trial-erected in-house as required before they ever reach site.

Our own team then delivers and installs the finished steelwork, anywhere in the UK. There is no handover between a fabricator and a fitter, because they are the same people.

What you get

Three things that do not change, whatever the job

In-house CAD, 25+ years

Electronic drawings in AutoCAD, refined with you before any steel is cut.

Tested and trial-erected

Products are proved at the works as required, so site time is fitting rather than fixing.

Accredited and marked

CHAS accredited, CSCS carded, and CE and UKCA marking on the work.

Accredited

Checked, carded and marked

The paperwork a main contractor asks for before anyone sets foot on site.

  • CHAS Accredited
  • Committed to CSCS
  • PASMA - Prefabricated Access Suppliers' and Manufacturers' Association
  • IPAF - International Powered Access Federation
  • FSB - Federation of Small Businesses
  • CE and UKCA conformity marking

CE and UKCA marking, CHAS accreditation and CSCS cards for every employee and sub-contractor on site.

Health & Safety

Safety, monitored every day

We promote the importance of Health and Safety at our works and on site — not an afterthought, a daily discipline.

  • CSCS accreditation for every employee and sub-contractor on site
  • Workshop and site supervisors monitor safety daily to keep risk to a minimum

Nationwide

Steelwork that travels

We are a single-works fabricator that installs the length of the country. That combination is the whole proposition — one team accountable from the first drawing to the last fixing.

Made in one place

Every job is drawn, cut, welded and trial-erected at the same works. There is no second fabricator in the chain and no variation in who did the work.

Delivered by us

Our own transport and our own team, so the steel arrives with people who know how it was built and what it has to meet on site.

Proved before it ships

Assemblies are tested and trial-erected in-house as required. On a job three hundred miles away, that is the difference between a fitting day and a return visit.

Distance changes the planning, not the standard. How we work on national jobs.
